Solve Problems in 4 simple steps
Math Trek follows Polya’s four step approach to solving every math problem. Instead of complicating things, we adopt a simple, naturalistic approach of improving problem solving by breaking problem solving down into 4 simple steps:

In our Club, at every level, and in every grade, we remind the student these 4 simple steps.

Club Structure
Our class is about 1 hours long; sectioned by:
1) Individual work time.
2) Group Discussion time
3) Instructor guided lectures on problems, and concepts
Our guiding principle is to train students to think mathematically, and creatively on problems by offering them a stress free environment( no grades), where creative thinking, and constructive discussion is fostered, and enforced.
Our Problems
Our problems are generally selected from leading competitions such as Math Kangaroo, Noetic Math Competition, Mathcounts, CML, OML, Math Olympiad, Ellipsis Competition etc. Math competitons typically demands non-standard way of look at a problem. They are generally visual in nature, challenging, interesting to work on. We love competition problems for that reason. We also go over problems focused on specialized subjects such as Number theory(like Factorization), Graph theory(like graph coloring), Combinatorics( Counting problems) over time. We give the students ample homework to last the students a week, so that the concepts are reinforced by the student. The class is highly collaborative, and fun.
FREE Math Competition Registration
Students enrolled in our class/club are offered FREE admission to one of the competitions above, and to any competitions Math Trek host through our the year. We believe math competition are wonderful ways to make friends, foster relationships, and be social. We understand not every parent want their child to be registered. We offer this as an option ONLY.
